After five full-length albums and a decade of international touring,  Black Rebel Motorcycle Club make their South African debut at Synergy Live Music Festival 2011. The American garage rock revivalists made their mark with 2001’s B.R.M.C. and the anthem “Whatever Happened To My Rock ‘N‘ Roll”,  and in it’s wake continued to experiment with their sound over numerous albums and EPs, including the stirring Americana of Howl, and the hard rock hit, Baby 81. 2010’s Beat The Devil’s Tattoo saw drummer Leah Shapiro join founders Peter Hayes and Robert Levon Been for one of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s most successful albums, cementing their place as a critical and commercial force in rock music.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club join electro stage headliners DirtyLoud and F.O.O.L. completing one of the finest line-ups Synergy Live history. They perform on the Main Stage on Saturday at midnight.

Making their debut in 2008, the Swedish duo of Rasmus Hermansen and Oliver Nilsson have taken their name to heart – F*ck Our Ordinary Lives – and risen to the top of the hard electro scene, winning over thousands of fans worldwide. With massive support from the electronic music blogosphere ever since the free internet release of their debut EP Diamond Ashy Lungs (2009), F.O.O.L. has become a near-household name in the scene alongside the likes of Tom Deluxx, Le Castle Vania and Haezer.

Having played every other continent on the planet, F.O.O.L. make their African performance debut at Synergy Live Music Festival 2011, bringing with their unrelenting sound and notoriously high-energy show.

The Synergy Live Music Festival and Cape Town School of Photography are hosting a Live Music Photography competition in collaboration with one small seed.

The competition aims to identify and give exposure to young photographers in South Africa with a passion for live music photography.

What’s the deal?

The competition will consist of two rounds, with the second round taking place at Synergy Live Music Festival from 25 to 27 November 2011 at Boschendal Wine Estate.

In the first round, entrants will submit their best live music photograph to competition@ormsconnect.co.za. Submissions will open on 17 October 2011, and close on 14 November
2011. Only one photograph is allowed per entrant, so only your best photograph will do.

The panel of judges will select the 10 best images to be displayed on Orms Connect, where users will vote for their favourite photograph in the comments section. The three entrants with the highest amount of votes will each receive a double-ticket to Synergy Live, as well as an official Photographers Pass for the event. This will give them access to the pit in front of the main stage.

After the festival, each photographer will have three days in which to submit their best three photographs taken at Synergy Live Music Festival. The competition panel will select the best picture from the 9 submitted images to declare a winner.
The winning photographer will receive an 8 week Social Documentary Course from the Cape Town School of Photography, an A2 mounted print of the winning photograph, as well as a double-ticket to Synergy 2012 !

Their assault on the sales charts on Beatport is just short of legendary, occupying up to 4 of the 10 slots in the electro-house chart, and having set up camp at no.2 on Beatport “all genre chart” for weeks , their position as the purveyors of the most cutting edge house in the world today has been cemented. Their prolific studio output is hard to believe, and even harder for their peers to match, and in turn this has led to endless remix requests from labels as diverse as Atlantic, Universal, Plasmapool and Great Stuff, and not to mention booking requests from around the world.
